The Wm. S. Haynes Company is pleased to introduce a new model flute – The Wm. S. Haynes Q Series. This lively and responsive flute, manufactured by Haynes, is created in a unique collaboration with the Haynes Company Boston and Beijing workshops. Global sourcing of the finest materials, exacting Haynes manufacturing standards, and highly skilled craftspeople make this flute highly desirable for advanced flutists at an attractive price. Each flute is handmade to reflect Wm. S. Haynes’ classic design, unique projecting timbre and quick response in the acoustic that has been the genesis of flutemaking since 1888.
The Haynes "Q Series" flute features a handmade headjoint - made in the USA at the Haynes factory - married to a Beijing-made body. While many advanced players might wince at the idea of playing a Chinese flute, they really do not need to worry with the Haynes Q Series - its feel is solid and the finish is so good it really could have come from a US factory.
...and it plays well too. This flute is responsive with a round, dark sound, with easy pianissimo in the top register. Like most American flutes, it's better with a B footjoint, but at only £200 more this is still great value. Try it with a 14k riser for a richer sound and slightly more resistance.
Haynes are the oldest American flute maker, and have been making flutes since 1888. Their traditional approach to flutemaking, combined with the best in modern technology, results in flutes with a unique feel.
About Wm S Haynes
William S. Haynes first established his name as a flute maker through his dedication to exacting detail in every instrument that left his workshop. Then, in 1913, he created a breakthrough in design that set Haynes flutes even more above the rest. This breakthrough, which resulted in a patent, corrected a design flaw that had troubled flutemakers and players up until that time. Through a combination of classic detailed hand-craftsmanship and innovation in design and technique, Haynes set a standard that prevails to this day at the flute workshop that still bears his name.
