Product Reviews: Altus 800 Series Alto Flute (819E, 821E, 825E)

This is a most wonderful instrument - it makes a delicious sound, especially in the low register, even moreso with a mic, and it is really comfortable to play.

I have found, after experimenting, that the overall tuning works best when both of the moveable joints of the curved head joint are adjusted, rather than just one of them. I have read that a curved head joint can adversely affect the tuning, but on the Altus, when well adjusted, it sounds spot on to me (and to my iPad tuner).

I do hope more flute players will acquire an alto, and more composers will write music for it - I wish I had got mine years ago!
