“Dance music with a twist!”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]

These four dance movements for alto flute and piano are wonderful! They are written in a quirky, almost easy-listening style and in the best part of the range so they are really lovely to play, and each one captures the unmistakeable characteristics of its title.  The Habanera has a jazz-infused melody over the regular Spanish bass line, the energy in the Flamenco is driven by the syncopated accompaniment, a sultry and beautiful melody rises and falls in the Sarabande and the Tarantella fizzes with energy. Each one will stand alone which is an added bonus. This really is dance music with a twist!

From the Publisher

You Can Dance If You Want To was written for rarescale in 2019. Each of the four movements explores the characteristics of a different dance form, steeped in jazz harmony and rhythmic drive.
