These pieces describe the various water birds. In ‘Ducks March to the pond’ there should be a contrast between the rhythmic waddling and quacking and the smooth passages as the ducks enter the water and swim. The lyrical ‘Swans’ speaks for itself – I hope. In ‘Cranes & Mallards, the wide stepping staccato passages describe the cranes’ long legs, and the scale passages invoke the squabbling mallards suddenly flying off. I hope you enjoy playing these pieces.
