Waltz of the Wolves for Two Flutes [Playing score(s)]
- Staff Pick
“Howl like never before!”
Flute duet music can be a little predictable so the direction here to 'howl like a wolf' down the flute is something of a rarity. This is Wil Offermans though so anything is possible! This strange waltz takes us to a dark forest where frightening things jump out at you suddenly. The senses are heightened further by the contrast of a short ethereal passage which feels weirdly beautiful. Not for those who are scared of the dark!
From the Publisher
Waltz of the Wolves is a piece for two flutists, which gives a lot of pleasure playing together as well as challenging with new techniques for the flute. You will have to imitate the howling of the wolves and create an atmosphere of the woods with the help of trilling noises etc. A perfect piece for teaching and for concerts.
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
