Vesuvio for Clarinet Choir

“Vesuvio” is a piece inspired by the famous volcano near Napoli in the south of Italy. The composer, looking the shape of this volcano, creates the structure of harmonies and melodies. Melodies are generated by modal and tribal scales and the chords are chosen using dodecaphonic techniques. The sound is often dark and heavy and the use of lowest pitches of clarinets is very effective.
