“Lovely solo flute writing.”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
These five short pieces by Oistein Sommerfeldt are really of the open spaces of the his native Norwegian landscape. They are sensitively written, using the full range and colours of the flute to paint each miniature. Birdsong characterises the thoughtful Flute Tune, articulation helps The Brook babble along effectively, Spring Morning has the flute singing plaintively, the expansive Mountain Yearning seems to reflects the seasonal snowmelt and finally Spring Play in the Hills has the restless energy of expectation. This is a lovely piece of writing for solo flute which would enhance any concert at any time of the year!
