“Wonderful music!”
These lovely arrangements of three of Chaminade's piano pieces have been made to bring out the best in her writing and showcase all the wonders of the flutes. Lolita captures all the exuberance of Spain, Conte Bleu is a tranquil Andante punctuated by short bursts of appassionato particularly from the piano, and the Quatrieme Waltz is a robust Allegro Vivo. These are substantial pieces with some technical challenges along the way but they are so wonderful to play you can't fail to love them!
From the Publisher
Cecile Chaminade was the first female composer to win the Ordre national de la Legion d'honneur, the highest decoration in France. These Three Pieces were originally written for solo piano between 1890 and 1907. Quite difficult to perform on the piano, they lend themselves very well to this arrangement for two flutes and piano by Dana H. Joras. In addition to making an excellent suite, each of the pieces works just as well on its own. In three movements: Lolita, Conte Bleu, and Quatrième Valse.
