From the Publisher

Benjamin Godard (1849 – 1895) was a French composer and teacher who studied at the Paris Conservatoire under the tutelage of notable composers such as Napoléon Henri Reber and Camille Saint-Saëns, in addition to violin studies with Henri Vieuxtemps. Godard was known for his compositions in various genres, including operas, symphonies, chamber music, and piano pieces. Although Godard's music was popular during his lifetime, it has somewhat fallen into obscurity in modern times, with only a few of his compositions still regularly performed. One of these such pieces is his Suite de Trois Morceaux, Op. 116, for flute and orchestra, though it is much more commonly performed in its reduction for flute and piano. In three movements: Allegretto, Idylle, and Valse.

This new score and set of parts came about upon the request to create a modern edition of the work, updating the engraving and correcting errata along the way. Additionally, as the parts for oboe, clarinet, and horns are quite minimal, they have been cued into the string  parts, to be employed at the discretion of the conductor and the players.

Instrumentation:

Clarinet (3rd movement only)
2 (F) Horns (3rd movement only)
