Strange Worlds for Wind Quintet was commissioned by the Volante Quintet who are based at The University of Manchester. This piece aims to portray the life of our planet, through a musical depiction of a Strange World, through musical use of strange sound worlds. The movements explore how mankind has destroyed many parts of the planet’s natural beauty, and imagines the ‘Reclamation’ of the animals, when humans finally expire from the planet. This work was first performed at Christ Church, Longridge on Sunday 12th May 2013 in a charity concert for the Christian Aid ‘Bite Back at Hunger’ campaign.
