From the Publisher
It was in 1947, two years after winning the celebrated Grand Prix de Rome, that the French composer Claude Pascal (1921–2017) composed the Sonatine for alto saxophone and piano, his first work for Adolphe Sax’s instrument. Firmly anchored in the tonal system, and far removed from any contemporary musical trends, Claude Pascal’s composition was conceived in the very French spirit of a Ravel or a Debussy, whose influences can be heard throughout the work. Introduction and notes on interpretation in French and English by Nicolas Prost. - New engraving.
