At the end of his compositional work, Carl Reinecke (1824-1910) had a preference for chamber music with wind instruments. With this sextet, the composer has created a work that is tonally balanced in all voices. The voicing of the instruments almost points towards an orchestral setting. What is required here is not any particular virtuosity on the part of the instrumentalists, but rather the ability to combine different Kang characters beautifully and in a romantic tone.
