From the Publisher
This duo for flute and alto flute is inspired by the surreal and timeless spirit of Montmartre in Paris. Wandering through its cobbled streets and shadowy stairways at dusk evokes the feeling that time has melted – like in a dream, or in Dalí’s famous dripping clocks.
Composed in China and dedicated to Salvador Dalí, The Secret of Montmartre was shaped by a vivid dream and the poetic imagery of melting time. The piece captures this dreamlike atmosphere through fluid lines, echoing textures, and an intimate dialogue between the instruments. With lyrical gestures and mysterious turns, the work unfolds like a forgotten story whispered between the stones of the hill. It is both a tribute to Montmartre's bohemian legacy and a musical reverie suspended between memory and imagination.
