The Rising Wind is a piece for 5 flutes in 3 sections. The first section is in a quick 5/8 with much of the focus falling on the ostinato pattern and opening motif. The second section contrasts greatly with the first section, by relying heavily on chords and the alto and bass flute. Finally, the third section brings the piece to a close with quick runs and a light and airy feel throughout.
