Our Description
The newly refined Altus AL-II supercedes the Altus AL; handmade with a .946 solid body and headjoint, the AL-II is a remarkable instrument that provides a player with the tools for any setting. The AL-II is equipped with a redesigned headjoint which allows for superb projection, flexibility annd control over a wide tonal palette. It also features the newly evolved "Altus scale", and carefully calculated and precisely tuned harmonics. This flute is full of colourful overtones, and enables exploration of tone and musical expression for professional players.

"Having played and performed on many contemporary flute brands throughout my career, of late, realising that something had always been missing, I returned to my 150 year old Louis Lot. The sound is still utterly captivating, but sadly the sheer age of the flute has had a negative impact on other areas, in particular, the mechanism and solder. Increasingly, playing it has become hard work!
"Having tried the Altus Flutes AL II in Taiwan last year, I was very pleasantly surprised by the ease of everything and to discover that it possessed a remarkably similar voice to that of my ancient flute. BUT…it was truly inspiring, working and responding in a way that was nothing short of exhilarating. I recently took delivery of an AL II and am beyond delighted. With every day that passes, vivid areas of expression can be unlocked as the two of us get to know each other. These days, it is as though I am learning to sculpt in sound! The AL II flute is a true masterpiece!"
