Each of these 32 delightful little pieces has been written to strengthen a particular skill but the inclusion of an accompaniment takes the pain right away. Aimed at young players, the rhythms are straightforward and the range of notes small, although there are some tunes written out an octave higher which is great for the reading of ledger lines. In addition, each piece has a national theme. For example Brumes sur le Loch Ness is for 'creating an atmosphere and sustaining sound', whilst Poupee Russe is for articulation. The accompanying CD contains flute playing of very high quality, so all in all this is worth the investment.
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
