This Delibes gem is always popular and this arrangement is really good. It may be short but it's packed with technique advancers, such as staccato and legato skills, rhythm and tempo variation, and balancing the parts and awareness of ensemble playing. The alto part is also good for those just starting out on that instrument. It's all such fun too - a winner all round!

Delibes composed many operatic works, both serious and light, incidental music, songs, a mass and a cantata, and also wrote music for a number of ballets, the best known being Coppelia, based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story Olympia.
The music which Delibes wrote for the ballet Sylvia includes ‘Pizzicati’, a piece which will be instantly recognisable, and which has been arranged here by Frances Jones for 3 Flutes and Alto Flute.
