“Unusual and great to play.”
Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
Piper's Dream is a short fantasie-like piece which evokes a Scottish folk song. The strong and improvisatory opening soon gives way to the main melody which has an unmistakeable Scottish heritage. Dotted rhythms and ambiguous tonality give this an 'I know that tune" feel. The end is as elusive as the northern mist with note bends adding to the sense of unease. This wonderfully imaginative piece is great to play and would be a really unusual piece with which to open any recital.
