Light Aerobics for Flute
An easy introduction to basic flute techniques
- Staff Pick
“A serious book.”
This is an excellent book which should help to establish good practice habits at a relatively early stage. The list of contents, ranging from Posture to Tunes, covers all the fundamentals of instrumental technique and some often neglected ones too, so there's plenty to work on. What is really appealing is that the exercises are bite-size and key-based, so not only is the particular skill developed, theory and musical understanding also get a boost. 'Balancing Act' is especially interesting as it explains exactly how to stop the flute moving around and backs this up with exercises that make the problem seem very obvious but easily solvable. The inclusion of short extracts for flute quartet is simply a bonus. This is a serious book that has an inbuilt longevity and will serve you well time and time again.
