Once again Billaudot has produced a stack of frighteningly difficult music for piccolo and piano, all of it edited beautifully by Beaumadier. These are the four most readily approachable and none of them is easy by any means. The Casterade is a 'concert fantasy in the form of a quadrille' and the challenge here lies as much in the nature of the music as in the technique. You also need your flute for the Intermezzo middle section. La Folle is an old-fashioned polka and very playable, whilst Kohler's Valse is a version of one his Op 33 studies. De Michelis has spiced up the famous Cachucha with a lot of notes but has kept the texture light and fun. Good luck to all of you who attempt these and the other pieces listed!
