These books are designed to help the pupil structure their practice through the week. The first task is to cut out the instruction cards, which you can then use in conjunction with the 'Explore your Piece' pages to widen practice beyond the printed page. The exploration ranges from 'are there any tricky rhythms in this piece - write them down and then clap them' (grade 1) to 'are there any particular rhythms or repeated rhythmic patterns in this piece - write them down and clap them' (grade 5). The cards will instigate various activities - for example, making up a short improvisation on a rhythm or changing the tempo of the music to evaluate the difference it makes in performance. There are even some tips for what to do if you are too tired to practice, including just cleaning out your instrument(!).
