From the Publisher

Il Cygnet was written in 2003 for the cor anglais player, Catherine Bell, who gave the first performance in its orchestral version on 13th December 2003 with the Wykeham Ensemble conducted by the composer. The orchestration is for strings with two horns, harp and percussion. The solo part may also be played by an alto saxophone. In this regard, I am indebted to my friend and colleague Kyle Horch for his invaluable advice in the preparation of the solo parts.

Il Cygnet has been recorded by Victoria Walpole with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Stephen Bell and is included on a compact disc of the composer's instrumental works issued by Dutton-Epoch under the title A Little Fall-ish! (CDLX7175).
