“Creative music for kids”
Gareth McLearnon is becoming a master at writing flute choir music and this exciting piece for younger players works really well. They will love the foot stamping which helps with establishing a pulse, the format which allows less advanced players to learn from others, and the 'no flutes' section which helps to build listening and teamwork. This unlocking of creativity is unusual at this level and makes it excellent workshop material as well as being ideal for a concert. It will be popular too - perfect!
From the Publisher
Commissioned for a flute day in Talange (near the French city of Metz) in the Lorraine region - this is my very first original work directed towards a kids ensemble. With only 5 concert flute parts - and the difficult rhythms passed from flute 1 to flute 2, and flute 2 to flute 3, etc - so as to make the whole experience more easily digestible for younger players - this piece will make the perfect addition to the closing concert of a flute day where something challenging, fun but not overwhelming is needed in the program.
Instrumentation:
5 x Concert Flutes - graded in difficulty from Flute 1-5
Performance duration (approx): 4'
