Grangewood Elegy was written in September 2025 for me and my wife Morgan to play. The piece is a small token of appreciation for Grangewood Park, which is situated opposite our house in South-east London. The park is one of a dozen or so surviving fragments of the Great North Wood, an oak wood which once covered a large swathe of South-east London. The wonderful views of the park which we get from our front windows change subtly with the seasons. A walk in the park is always a delight and, during the pandemic, the presence of an open space so near our home was a lifeline.
