This transcription is dedicated to Kenneth Zammit Tabona, Artistic Director of the Valletta International Baroque Festival, Malta. His love for the Goldberg Variations knows no bounds and his team at Festivals Malta commissioned me to write this transcription for winds and harp.
The first performance was on the 17th January 2024 at the Casino Maltese in Valletta, by the Winds of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra with harpist Donata Mattei.
It was just over a month later that our beloved colleague Daniele Galletto, for whom I wrote the 2nd Clarinet and Bass Clarinet part, passed away aged only 39 years old. This score is published in his memory.

Our Description
Scored for 9 players: 2 flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons and harp. The 2nd players double on piccolo, cor anglais and Bass Clarinet.
This is a chamber work but can also be conducted or not, making it ideal for large woodwind groups. It runs to about 75 minutes if the piece is played with all repeats.
There are different groupings amongst the big tutti variations to showcase all the players.
