From the Publisher
Horowitz - the name alone makes one think of a large grand piano, rich piano sound and pianistic art at the highest level. One of the most important pianists of all time, Vladimir Horowitz left a large number of recordings of his piano arrangements of well-known works in New York after his death in 1989. In addition, there is a hitherto unknown collection of his own compositions, which Schott is publishing for the first time in the new series The Horowitz Edition. The edition makes a treasure that was previously not freely available accessible and underlines the musical genius of Vladimir Horowitz.
The work, which is shaped by seconds, begins with loud sighs. After soft, sustained chords, the dynamics and rhythms increase to a climax, again and again characterized by chains of sighs, before the pain subsides and the moaning becomes quieter again.
