“Lovely Weelkes!”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]

Here are four well-arranged short pieces by Thomas Weelkes. The music is lovely and can work on many levels. Firstly they will improve the the ensemble skills of less experience groups, secondly it will introduce a style not generally familiar to flute players, and thirdly the intonation of any group will be improved by playing them., Good value all round!

From the Publisher

Flute Trio - 3 flutes, or 2 flutes and alto flute. This set of three madrigals by the renaissance composer Thomas Weelkes features frequent time changes and some lovely independent part writing. None of the pieces are overly long - about 30 bars on average. Part 3 descends to low C, but the other parts are relatively straightforward note-wise. Could be tackled by confident players of grade 2-3 standard.

Difficulty guide: 4-6
