This book focuses on some key areas that are crucial to learning; motivation, self-assessment and a sense of satisfaction which is achieved through an acquisition of skills. Short exercises like the tonguing competition and trills focus on specific areas of learning through fun tasks that students love. These quick activities hopefully mean that students are willing to get their instruments out of the case in the first place. The questions are designed to help strengthen knowledge but also to help students avoid common pitfalls. Self-assessment is designed to make students aware of their confidence , but also what they might need to do to raise their score out of ten. The sense of satisfaction is achieved from being able to see progress through their score and therefore increasing motivation.
