“Birdsong for Flutes!”
This is simply a tour round the greatest hits of flute music about birds. Opening with Vivaldi's Goldfinch concerto, this progresses through Saint-Seans Cuckoo and The Aviary, Mussorgsky's Chicks and Baba Yaga from Pictures at an Exhibition and The Bird from Peter and the Wolf. The grand finale is The Swan leading into four bars of the Woody Woodpecker song. If you have a really good flute player, or better still, flute players who can share the load, this will be brilliant for them. In fact this piece is a real workout for all players but everyone will love it. Just don't take it too seriously!
From the Publisher
Fine-Feathered Friends and Fiends, arranged for Flute Choir by Linda Kirkpatrick. From the arranger: "As flutists, we are well aware of our frequently designated role in many western classical compositions: that of a bird! Birdsong has been part of Western classical music for centuries. Fine-Feathered Friends and Fiends was created to display the talents of an outstanding flutist, but with a touch of humor."
