Our Description

Jacob Koppel Sandler (1860-1931) wrote the song “Eli, Eli” (generally spelled Eili, Eili) with the text by Boris Tomeshefsky, for M. Horowitz’ operetta “The Jewish King of Poland for a Night” (1896). This piece is very effective—while featuring all of the various performers in the choir, it also relates the emotional feeling of Eili, Eili in sadness and despair to the listener.
