Eastern Fjords for Solo Flute and Flute Quintet

Eastern Fjords was originally written for flute quartet in 2012, the first sketches being made whilst I was at the festival of the Norwegian Flute Society. In 2023 I was asked to present a piece for flute orchestra at the Pescara Flute Festival, and I opted to rearrange this piece for a fuller ensemble. The festival director Marco Felicioni suggested I include a soloist part with the addition of some brief improvised interludes. The piece was premiered at the festival by the Pescara Flute Orchestra, with myself as soloist and Maestro Felicioni leading the first flutes. This edition has suggestions for the “solos” for those who do not wish to improvise from the chord symbols.
