Bizet's opera 'The Pearl Fishers' was written during 1863 and was his first important opera. Unfortunately it received a very unfavourable reaction from the critics and Bizet himself was highly critical of it during his last years. However, the duet has remained the best known extract and has been heard extensively on radio and television. This fantastic arrangement highlights the lovely intertwining melody that has become so popular.
