“Young ones will love this!”
This is a great book for young players just starting to develop their reading and flute playing skills. Each of these four pieces has a completely different character but all are written in easy keys with repeating melodies and a basic ternary structure. This makes them easy to learn and quicker to get to a performance level. There are teaching points too, such as slurring into the middle register, 3/4 time, the dotted crotchet and quaver rhythm and using da capo. The Plains of Kansas is slightly harder with it's jazz style and a faster tempo. They'll all love this book - and so will you!
From the Publisher
This set of miniatures was written with the aim of creating short, fun pieces with interesting colours and harmonies. Each piece is a self contained scene with a different character, and the piano parts aim to contextualise the seemingly simple melodies with more complex, often jazz-orientated harmonies. A really useful set for early grade flute.
