Danse Greque [Alto Flute & Piano]
From the Publisher
Is this more South of France? or Greek? Either way, it's a wonderful sunny piece for alto flute with plenty of opportunity to get those fingers moving. After a short, plaintive opening, to which the alto flute's tone colour adds an ethereal quality, there is a wild and ecstatic dance. The work was originally composed for C flute (Mouquet opus 14), but shows itself well suited to the alto. The French composer, Mouquet, is best known to flute players for his slightly earlier work, 'La Flute de Pan'.
