Danse d'Equinoxe for Saxophone Quintet

The equinox is the time of the year when day and night has same duration. The spring equinox is on the 20th of March and the fall equinox on 22nd september. The composer Davide Riva, inspired by these astronomical events, has made a dance with modal melodies and irregular rhythms. The characteristics of a saxophone quintet are perfect to interpretate this kind of music where it’s possible to find fast passages of agility, singable melodies, clusters and frenetic rhythmic patterns.
