“Useful Teaching Material”
Although there are many of these well-known classical melodies in other volumes, to have hit after hit after hit in one place will prove invaluable for the hard-pressed teacher. The difficulty level is mixed and not progressively arranged but none the worse for it. Most are pretty straightforward with unison rhythms in easy keys but there are enough exceptions to keep everyone interested. For example, Vivaldi's Autumn looks easy but is in E flat major and both Ave Maria and Ravel's Pavan are in 4 flats, which will add that extra dimension. As usual, Kevin Mayhew has produced this book beautifully at a very good price. You just can't go wrong here.
Classical Pop Duets is a collection of 30 instantly recognisable classical pieces arranged for two flutes. The pieces have been chose for those who want to expand their classical music repertoire, and arranged to cover a variety of key ignatures, ranges, styles, and rhythms. Ideal for flautists at varying grade levels, these pieces are also suitable for performance by larger ensemble groups.
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is total beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
