Carmen for Four [Flute Quartet]
- Editor's Choice
Trudy Kane has chosen five of the more unusual movements from Carmen for this arrangement including all three entr'actes and the Seguidilla. She has done a fine job here, all the flute solos being reproduced almost exactly as in the original orchestral score. Possibly the least successful is the famous entr'acte as it is very difficult to make 3 flutes sound like a harp. The material is shared out equally and everyone shines at some point. This is a great way to get to know Carmen (if you don't already) and great to play if you do. Yet again expensive but worth it.
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
