“Party time!”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]

These birds are having a party! They use Latin rhythms to give a feel-good factor and fly around all over the place. A lyrical Andante sees them take a rest and the ending is literally off-beat as they seem to collapse exhausted. Best played with an easy technique, including nifty fingers and neat articulation, and a real sense of humour, this would make a fantastic encore.

From the Publisher

This piece for flute and piano was inspired by the multitude of birds that could suddenly be heard once more when human activity came to a standstill during the global pandemic in spring of 2020.

It is dedicated to Daisy Noton, a BBC Young Musician of the year finalist, who premiered it in August 2020 (YouTube video available).
