“The complete good time package!”
Taking the form of a journey round Eastern Europe, this book is packed with good things. The 29 tunes are such fun and can played by an array of instruments pitched in C by anyone above beginner level. QR codes take you to downloadable mp3s that you can play along with, there's information about the music and tips on how to play it, a map and photos of the regions so you know where the music comes from, and links to free video tutorials, workshops and jam sessions to share in. The very personal approach from Gundula Stohanove Gruen make it all the more enjoyable - the complete good time package!
From the Publisher
This book is for Instruments in C (Violin, Flute, Accordion etc.)
An alternative volume is available for Instruments in B flat. (e.g. B flat Clarinet, Trumpet, Saxophone…)
I chose a reverse journey, starting in Ukraine and Eastern Romania, near the Danube Delta where the Danube meets the Black Sea, and then traveling westward. The pieces are presented individually, as each has unique features and performance practices. Some pieces are written for a single voice, whilst others have up to three voices. I had to juggle the widely varying ranges of C instruments — whilst violins and accordions, for example, sound amazing and expressive in a lower octave, a flute or recorder cannot reach that range. To offer more flexibility, I have notated higher and lower versions on a duet stave or included separate arrangements in both versions. Details can be found in the Performance Notes below each piece.
