Otto Ernst Goepfart was born on July 31, 1864 in Weimar. His father, the organist Christian Heinrich Goepfart, gave him his first musical instructions. He later studied at the Grand Ducal Music School in his hometown. He had been city cantor in Weimar since 1888. Goepfart died on January 13, 1911. Otto Goepfart should not be confused with his brother Karl, who achieved greater fame as a bandmaster and composer.Performance duration (approx): 4
