“A touch of class!”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]

These most lovely duets by Carey Blyton are really classy and their simple writing style seems to appeal to everyone whatever their level. Each one is based on a Hokusai painting featuring flora and fauna, and described in detail in the performance notes. The flute parts are completely equal using interplay to speed up the learning process. This, together with the small note range and easily accomplished rhythms means that they make brilliant sightreading material. All five duets have their own character, and the Japanese intervals both in the melody and between the parts really take us to the East, If nothing else, they make a welcome change from arranged classical repertoire and I can't recommend them strongly enough!

From the Publisher

These five little pieces, each based on a Hokusai print, make use of various conventions of traditional Japanese music, such as the (differing) forms of Japaneses 'soft' and 'hard' scales.
