A Summer Evening in Hawaii by Charles Edward Wheeler, arranged for flute choir by Matt Johnston. A descriptive work first published in 1917 by J.W. Jenkins Sons Music Co. (Kansas City) which depicts many scenes of Hawaii through the use of original music as well as familiar songs such as Our Native Land and Aloha 'Oe. The percussion parts, while optional, do add a nice theatrical element to the piece, and even if all instruments are not available, they can be selectively used at the discretion of the conductor.

Percussion (optional):
One player: Bird Whistle, Cuckoo, Bob White, Triangle, Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Cymbal, Bells, Wood Block, Chimes (or Bells), Tom-tom Drum

Honorable Mention: NFA Newly Published Music Awards 2021
