There is an increasing discovery of chamber music by Italian composers of the 19th century. Mercadante's duets are worth listening to which is hardly surprising if one takes into consideration the significance of this composer in his native Italy at the beginning of the 19th century. It is not without reason that one of his flute concerts is still part of the standard repertoire. The edition presented here is based on a privately owned first copy, and the few obvious misprints have been corrected.
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
