Product Reviews: Trevor Wye's Very First Flute Book

“A poorly titled book”
Trevor Wye is the authority for flute study books. The five-in-one book is all a professional needs to build a basic proficiency. There is also a basic book that really begins at the beginning. This book appears to have been edited and titled by someone who has never played an instrument, let alone flute. All introductory aspects are omitted; no fingering, no posture, no embouchure, no explanation of written music. It jumps right in at tone development, assuming the student has a thorough working knowledge of the flute. This would be all fine and dandy if title was something like "studies towards flute proficiency for the intermediate player." Just Flutes are a great company and I'll use them again but I do not believe they should be selling this book online without a clearer explanation.
Just Flutes response
Aaron, thank you for taking the time to write this review. We have categorised this book under 'Studies' rather than 'Tutors', for this exact reason. We agree that the title (and cover) could have been more wisely chosen to more accurately reflect the content of the book - however, in the right context there is some very useful content within, as you would expect from a book by Trevor Wye.
We've updated our grading on this book to reflect that - in reality - this book is better suited to grade 5+ players, using the exercises in a different teaching context. Thank you again for the review, and we hope that others will find it useful too.
