Editor's Choice The Taggarts have done it again! This is such a great book for all those pupils who can't/won't play scales. The tunes are all based on simple scales and arpeggios but the backing tracks are so good that you hardly notice. Hence scales become all gain and very little pain. Brilliant!

So far, my students have loved this. A particular hit is 'Chiller' (E minor arpeggio to the accompaniment of a 'UK Garage' backing track). It has made one of my most scale-stubborn students appreciate that scales and arpeggios are relevant. Another student is now successfully learning F chromatic with 'Big Top', the repeated note, dotted rhythm is really good for learning purposes. I teach different rhythms to learn scales- but with these backing tracks it all comes to life and makes it exciting and compelling for the student. It is clearly printed and the backing tracks are excellent, with lots of tuning As at the beginning. Hilary introduces and counts in every track very clearly. A whole variety of popular styles covered from 'Techno' to 'Irish Rock'. Brilliant. PLEASE do a grade 4 and 5 book!
