This lovely piece seems to encapsulate all of the French style in a short time frame. The expressive opening theme is embellished with flourishes of notes before the music changes mood dramatically, becoming more rhythmically articulated and stronger. The return of the opening is beautifully shaped and the piece ends as expressively as it began. This is a little gem!
