“Great adaptations of Bach.”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member -
Very few players know the alto as well as Carla Rees and the amount of scholarship and practical application that has gone into these 2 books is quite amazing. Transposed so that the key stays as originally intended, the music sits in exactly in the right place with modifications to suit to the range. Articulations are based on the source material, again with some sensitive alterations, and double stopping has been replaced by grace notes. Breathing has been left to the discretion of the player. There is a great deal of worth in studying the Bach's string music on the flute. These sonatas and partitas represent a serious challenge, and to have them specifically designed for the alto is an absolute joy.
