Just Flutes Presents… Just Flutes Festival 2025, Masterclass: Michael Cox

We are thrilled that Michael Cox is giving Masterclasses as part of the Just Flutes Festival this August.

To perform in this masterclass, you will require a minimum level of grade 8.

Michael Cox is one of Britain’s foremost flute-players. Although born in England he spent his childhood in Africa. He studied music at the Zimbabwe College of Music and then the Royal College of Music in London. Early competitive successes led directly to a solo career that has included concerts and recordings in all continents and performances with major orchestras and conductors.

Michael is Principal Flute of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, London Sinfonietta and former principal of BBC Symphony Orchestra. He is also Professor of Flute at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and his students have gone on to hold key positions in orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, English National Opera and Royal Northern Sinfonia. His recordings on Naxos, Sony, Hyperion and Nimbus are widely praised.

Michael is an Altus international Artist and plays on an ALII - his appearance at the Just Flutes Festival is made possible thanks to generous support from Altus Flutes.

The booking form below is for players who wish to perform in the Masterclass. Audience members do not need to book, however a ticket to the Festival is required for entry.
