From the Publisher

While not a jazz arrangement, Peter Bacchus approached his interpretation of "Allemande" from Bach's Partita in A minor with the loose, exploratory feel of jazz improvisation. "It was not my intention to compose a new piece," Bacchus says, "but to give myself the freedom to work within the original work." For intermediate to advanced players.

Composer's Notes

"I am basically a classical flutist who has maintained a fascination with jazz and other styles of improvised music all my life. I have always listened with great admiration to a fluent jazz player. The skilled improviser's command of the form and harmonies of a piece, as well as having the trained ability to develop, transform and transpose any musical idea in the process of eleborating a solo has always attracted me.

I suspect that I am not the only classical musicain who has looked with longing at the jazzers! So I decided to see what I could do myself with the Allemande, not in a jazz style, but in the style of the piece itself." - Peter Bacchus
