The solo flute part of this great piece is exactly as in the orginal, with the rest of the writing successfully replicating the piano accompaniment. The bass line anchors the harmony well, while the other flutes dovetail the detail. For the most part, this is quite straightforward so the challenge here is to balance the group correctly and to persuade the soloist to buy more biscuits for the rehearsals. Enjoy!

Solo flute, 3 flutes, alto flute, bass flute, optional contr'alto flute, contrabass flute. A lovely arrangement of this classic piece from the flute repertoire. The solo flute part is unchanged and is here supported by a flute choir. The accompanying parts are relatively simple, ranging from about grade 4 to 6 in standard. Just a beautiful as the original, with a mournful opening section that is transformed into an exuberant romp showing the solo flute in full flight! A great chance to shine a new light on a perennial classic.
